So many internet marketers are convinced that using PPC advertising will clean out their bank accounts. I was talking to someone the other day who has been marketing online for over five years, yet he won’t touch PPC, saying Google has got too greedy. This prompted me to look at his sites, and his sales letter pages and squeeze pages (some think they’re the same thing, but they’re not) are not optimized at all for Google and in my opinion not for the visitor either.
And I see this all the time on internet marketing forums where people are simply scared to use PPC because they can’t bare the thought of throwing lots of money away. It’s obvious to me that they are failing to optimize their pages with their main keyword (without overdoing it), failing to keep their Adwords account structure optimized and failing to write relevant ads.
(When doing niche research I was watching my competitors’ ads closely over a few weeks, and it became apparent that the ones I considered unoptimized were doing initial tests because they actually disappeared after only a few days. One guy’s ad actually had a perfect top-selling keyword phrase but obviously gave up because Google charged him too much per click.)
But if you take time to learn how to create campaigns, ads and landing pages that Google like, you will be able to build a profitable business by using Adwords and other PPC advertising.
Even if you want to predominantly use SEO for getting traffic, you still need to know which keywords convert the best. And using Google Adwords is the fastest way to find out.
I cannot emphasize this enough:
You need to use Google Adwords to begin with, to determine what your most effective keywords are in making conversions.
Using Nichebot.com is one way you can ensure you get using the correct keywords to begin with. Another great tool is Market Samurai. Also Wordtracker’s free tool and Google’s own keyword suggestion tool.
