Thesis and Themedy Child Theme

by Paula on January 17, 2012 · 0 comments

Last summer I bought Thesis, the popular premium WordPress theme for a couple of my niche sites, and though there is a learning curve, it is very flexible and customizable. The staff on the support forum are also very helpful.

The more fancy sites that I see however, require a bit more knowledge of css than I have, and most people quite wisely outsource to the experts. So I thought I’d buy a ready made child theme to use with the Thesis framework. I chose to use Line It Up from Themedy.com, who make all their themes compatible for both Thesis and Genesis, another popular customizable framework.

I’m still getting used to using the Line It Up child theme, and so far the support forum there is also very helpful. I thought it was a good deal as you get all their current themes for one fee $80 for 6 months and $130 for 12 months. But you still get to keep all your themes after the membership is up. You just don’t get new themes or further support.

I’ll see how it goes, and will probably stay a member. I have lots of sites and will probaly make use of most of their themes. I made a change to the main background image to get the canvas effect. I’m not sure if that will have to be replaced every time I update or not, but it’s easy enough to add it to the theme via FTP.
